Our Approach image
At Metro Schools, our educational approach and curriculum are driven by our mission statement. We are dedicated to academic excellence and strive to close the achievement gap by setting rigorous goals for our students, parents, teachers, and the school. Our school community values diversity in cultural, religious, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds as essential components of a college preparatory education.

We provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that prepares our students and staff to become responsible global citizens and environmental stewards. Our commitment to cultural diversity is reflected in all aspects of our curriculum and programs, which help our students develop a broad perspective and appreciation for different cultures.

At Metro Schools, we offer a college preparatory curriculum for our middle and high school students that is aligned with Minnesota's academic standards. Our school prides itself on maintaining small class sizes of 15 to 20 students, which allows us to provide individualized attention and address each student's specific needs. We use assessment data to set rigorous academic goals and focus on building skills that will prepare our students for college. To help our students bridge the educational gap and improve their chances of attending college, we utilize an extended day schedule for most of the year, with early dismissal on Fridays. This approach has been successful in enhancing our students' academic performance and providing them with more opportunities to learn and grow.

At Metro Schools, our diverse staff is dedicated to providing additional support to our students to help them navigate the path to college and achieve success. We offer various opportunities, including inviting guest speakers, organizing university visits, participating in competitions, team-building activities, and encouraging students to take leadership roles. These activities are designed to boost our students' confidence, help them focus on their studies, and develop a strong work ethic both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities.

We are committed to helping our students pursue secondary education and success in today's workforce. Our high school students undergo assessments and placement counseling with a dedicated counselor upon enrollment. We provide academic guidance, curriculum information, interpretation of policies and procedures, and assess student interests and needs to ensure their success. Moreover, we assist our students with financial aid applications and scholarships using the latest resources to aid in career exploration. We utilize various tools, such as online services, software programs, workshops, guest speakers, and college visits, to help our students achieve their goals.

When Distance Learning became necessary, we adapted our activities to ensure that our students' needs were still being met. For instance, we shifted our guest speaker events and workshops to virtual online meetings and events to continue to provide these valuable opportunities for our students. At Metro Schools, we are committed to supporting our students' success, and we strive to adapt and adjust to meet their needs, regardless of the challenges that come our way.

At Metro Schools, we recognize that creating a caring learning community is essential for student success. Therefore, we prioritize providing a safe and nurturing environment that is conducive to learning. Our school's approach to building a supportive community has helped our students feel valued and supported, which has contributed to their academic success.
